A capesize bulk carrier dropped anchor at outer road on september 09th, to perform a programmed underwater survey. The “Cape Maria” is the biggest ship ever seen on the roads of the port of Lorient with a Loa of 289m and 170 000dwt loaded at 17,75m summer draft.
The vessel was bound for Colombia sailing from Loire river and took the opportunity of clear waters of the roads for video/diving attendance.
This operation showed the ability of the port of Lorient to handle very large vessels on its waiting area.
